WyeCycle is a not-for-profit community business, operating in the parishes of Wye and Brook in East Kent. Founded in 1989, WyeCycle are recognised as one of the country’s leading community sector waste reduction projects.

WyeCycle introduced to the UK many pioneering initiatives which are now becoming commonplace; kerbside collection of kitchen and garden material, fortnightly residual waste collection, kerbside collection of WEEE (electrical items). Residual kerbside waste levels from the 1,200 households in WyeCycle’s operational area have been reduced to an average of 260kg/hh/yr, which we believe to be the lowest in the UK.

Other WyeCycle initiatives on waste include a comprehensive trade waste service, biodiesel production from old vegetable oil, and furniture re-use. Beyond waste, WyeCycle are actively involved in wider environmental and social development. We founded the Wye Farmers Market, are founder members of the Wye Community Land Trust, and campaign on a range of issues at a local and national level.
